One might say that the death of Mr. Travelers Checks was predicted nearly 50 years ago; call it “serendipity,” but the Serendipity Singers hit song “Plastic” (1965) foretold the death of Mr. Travelers Checks in the refrain of their song “everything’s gonna be plastic by and by.”
